Apply for Senior Consultant (Technical)

Role Purpose

The Senior Technical Consultant is responsible for owning and delivering the technical components of ERP implementation projects, including architecture design, backend development, integrations, and technical validation of requirements.

This role will undergo structured Odoo training and progressively become HFC’s internal technical lead.

• Position: Senior Consultant (Technical)
• Location: Mauritius - Onsite
• Type: Contract (long-term, subject to successful completion of probationary period and performance)
• Training: 2 months of formal training during the first 6 months. Deliverables will be expected in parallel.
• Professional Development: Ongoing coaching, exposure to complex projects, and technical leadership growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirements & Workshop Participation

• Participate in pre-sales and client discovery sessions
• Translate business needs into technical solutions
• Provide technical input during scope definition
• Support functional consultants with feasibility analysis
• Ensure clarity before development begins

2. Technical Architecture & Solution Design

• Design scalable backend architectures
• Define custom vs standard solutions
• Estimate technical effort and timelines
• Identify integration risks early
• Validate technical feasibility during workshops

3. Backend Development & Version Control

• Develop backend system customisations (Python)
• Use GitHub for version control and collaboration
• Maintain structured branching and commit standards
• Review and optimise code quality
• Ensure maintainable, scalable implementations

4. Integrations & Automation

• Design and build API integrations
• Work with REST / JSON services
• Handle external system connectivity
• Implement automation workflows
• Troubleshoot integration failures

5. Technical Project Ownership

• Track technical milestones and deliverables
• Communicate progress and risks clearly
• Ensure delivery within agreed scope
• Maintain quality and technical standards
• Support deployment and go-live activities

6. Internal Capability Development

• Review and improve coding standards
• Document technical implementations
• Complete structured Odoo training
• Transfer knowledge internally
• Mentor junior developers
• Improve internal technical standards

Performance Metrics

• Quality of backend development
• Clean GitHub usage and structure
• Integration stability and reliability
• Accuracy of development estimates
• Speed of Odoo capability acquisition

Must Have Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Education

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of First Class or Upper Second-Class (2:1) Honours degree
• Strong academic performance at secondary level (minimum grades A*, A, or B)
• Or equivalent demonstrable technical capability

Experience

• Minimum 4–6 years experience in:
• • Backend Python development
  • GitHub version control workflows
  • API integrations (REST / JSON)
  • Database-driven systems (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • System automation implementation

Mandatory Technical Skills
